| Why use Whitehouse Pimms? |
| |
Thanks for asking. Here's our answer.
Focused Experience
Whitehouse Pimms has focused on recruiting consultants with compensation from $100,000 to $300,000 since the 1990s. Many of our Principals were consultants or recruited for consulting organizations for years prior to that. The industry knowledge and network of contacts established through this long exposure is invaluable in sourcing candidates for you.
Since the mid-1990s, our Principals have recruited experienced consultants for many of the largest management consultancies and numerous mid-size and boutique firms. Large clients they’ve served successfully include A.T. Kearney, BearingPoint, Coopers & Lybrand, Deloitte Consulting, Ernst & Young, IBM Services, McKinsey & Company, Oracle Consulting, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Focus also comes into play in our client relationships. Whitehouse Pimms focuses on long-term client relationships, performing multiple searches for each of a limited number of clients. This focus develops the detailed knowledge of your firm that is necessary to identify the right candidates and sell them on your opportunities. It also provides us the luxury, unavailable to larger firms, of few off-limits conflicts. We can recruit from just about all of your competitors.
Candidates
Whitehouse Pimms' long-time focus on management consulting has built an extensive contact network and a 74,000-plus database of consultants and ex-consultants. We spend 100% of each day recruiting consultants. As a result, the slate of candidates we present to you is developed from a much larger universe of individuals than other recruiting efforts will reach. And the search effort targets employed consultants, not just active job seekers. The result is better candidates for you.
People
Whitehouse Pimms' Principals average ten-plus years recruiting in the management consulting market–our junior Principal joined us in 1999. We've each recruited management consultants with expertise in all major functions and client industries. And because Whitehouse Pimms is a true firm–not a sole proprietor–the firm possesses the capacity to successfully perform a number of your search engagements at any time.
Process & Technology
Whitehouse Pimms was founded by two process improvement consultants. Not surprisingly, our search process is detailed and it's documented in order to ensure that it's effective, efficient, and consistent. During this meticulous process, all conversations with each potential candidate are conducted by a Whitehouse Pimms Principal, not a junior associate.
We leverage a proprietary database of 74,000-plus North American consultants and ex-consultants that we've compiled since the mid-1990s. The firm spends a significant percentage of revenues continuously updating source information from the best independent research organizations. Our investment in technology allows us to contact hundreds of potential candidates each day–an absolute requirement for success in recruiting mid-level management consultants.
Return on Investment
Unfilled positions cost you money–almost as much as a bad hire (perhaps another good reason for using a firm with the network of contacts required to look behind the resume). How much money? Using average metrics, a management consulting practice with compensation at 55-60% of client fees yields a contribution margin of about 35% of fees after all direct employee costs. This means that you're losing contribution dollars equal to the Whitehouse Pimms search fee every three to six months on each unfilled position. Conversely, the payback period on the fee when the candidate begins billing is the same three to six months–an outstanding investment return for you.
